A. Lange & Söhne Open-faced Keyless Lever Watch With 24-Hour Dial
1904
Jointly developed between A. Lange & Söhne and Dürrstein & Co, DUF (Deutsche Uhrenfabrikation) was targeted towards consumers that wished for precise watches at more accessible prices.
The primary differences between watches by DUF and A. Lange & Söhne were that the watches from DUF had jewels without the gold screwed bushings, a less decorated movement with a ruby endstone instead of diamond, and were adjusted to only three positions rather than five.
Since 1860, Lange had been manufacturing 24-hour watches, which soared in popularity due to the advent of rail transport and the common use of 24 hour timetables. Research suggests that only 9 examples of this watch have been produced, of which 3 have appeared at past auctions.
